Pee Wee's Big Adventure Review
This is a movie that is near and dear to my heart. I saw this movie when I was very young and have loved it ever since. For those who are not familiar with Pee Wee Herman, he is a man-child who is very eccentric and at least in the movies goes on these over the top adventures. In the television show he has this over the top house that serves as the basis of a children's television show. This is also one of Tim Burton's first feature films and led to him creating Beetlejuice and the first Batman movie for Warner Bros. Paul Reubens stars as Pee Wee Herman and in essence he is Pee Wee Herman. He developed the character, developed the television and stage shows, and also helped with the creation of the movies. This is one of the best examples of a children's movie that can be enjoyed by both adults and children. I have seen this movie about 10 times and I can say that I love it just as much now as the first time I watched it. This is a wonderful movie even if it does seem a little dated. If you want to watch a movie that is feel good and a great adventure then you should watch this movie.
On another note, I'm not sure how some kids handled watching this movie when they were younger. There are some images in this movie that could freak grown ups out. The clown hospital scene is really weird and moderately disturbing . Also the dinosaur scenes are creepy due to the animation more than anything. At points this movie has a really dark tone and is a very well rounded movie because it dances between tones with amazing grace.
